Bengaluru: A major bribery case involving three cops from the CCB came to light because of the in-fight that broke out between them over the sharing of the bribe.

After the milee, an ACP and two inspectors of the CCB were suspended following the reports that they accepted Rs.1.12 crores to allow cigarette sellers to keep their business open.

However, what has left eyebrows raised is the fact that the police decided not to register a case under the Anti Corruption act.

A day after the bribery scandal broke, City police commissioner Bhaskar Rao suspended ACP Prabhushankar, and inspectors Ajay and Niranjan Kumar.

It has been alleged that the inspectors raided the cigarette dealers as Prabhushankar denied to give the amount these inspectors were seeking.

In his report submitted to the city police commissioner DCP Ravi Kumar confirmed that the trio had collected Rs.1.21 crores for the cigarette dealers.

Interestingly, police are in search of a rowdy-sheeter who brokered the deal between dealers and the police officials.

“The entire episode looks like a mystery. A rowdy-sheeter dealing with senior cops, dispute between officials on money collection etc. ACB only can unearth the real culprits,” added sources in the CCB.
