CBI to probe DKShi’s case as K’taka govt gives green signal?

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State government has reportedly given its nod to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe into the charges of corruption standing against Congress leader DK Shivakumar under the Prevention of Corruption Act -1988. Shivakumar is currently lodged in Tihar jail in a money-laundering case.
It is said that the CBI had written to the state government seeking permission to probe the case pertaining to unaccounted cash of Rs 8.59 cr seized by the Directorate of Income Tax (Investigation), Karnataka and Goa in August 2017 from one of the many flats in New Delhi, which reportedly belong to the Congress leader. The Enforcement Directorate, which was probing the case till last month, handed over the matter to the CBI for a broader inquiry.
It is now believed that the state government has granted permission to the CBI to continue the probe, reported The New Indian Express. Meanwhile, a Delhi court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Shivakumar till October 15, allowing the central agency to question him in jail between 11 am and 3 pm on October 4 and 5 in the presence of the jail superintendent.
Shivakumar was arrested by the ED on September 3.
