Bangalore: State Law Minister TB Jayachandra has informed that the state government will hold a meeting with legal experts on December 16 to finalize its stand to be placed before the Supreme Court on Cauvery water sharing issue.
Speaking to reporters here on December 9, Monday, the Minister said “A team of ministers will discuss the issue with senior counsel Fali Nariman who will appear before the court on behalf of the State.”
“I will also be a part of this meeting along with Water Resources Minister M B Patil and several other ministers. After we present our petition to the Supreme Court, the hearing is likely to be scheduled on January 15”, he added.
It is learnt that apart from the issue of Cauvery River, other areas of concern such as proper utilization of Cauvery river water, storage of water at Shimsha and Mekedatu and setting up of new hydel power projects will be discussed.
