Bengaluru: People from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu will all be following the proceedings in the Supreme Court which will hear the Cauvery issue at 2 pm on Tuesday, September 27. A confrontation is expected between the two states as Karnataka has resolved to release water only for its drinking needs.

Karnataka had sought modification of the court’s order while stating that it would not release water now, but will do so in December. Tamil Nadu wants Karnataka to be held in contempt for not following the SC’s order. It also wants the court to reject Karnataka’s modification plea.

Meanwhile, Section 144 or prohibitory orders have been issued in Bengaluru and the rest of the Cauvery basin.
