Bangalore: As the state government headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is preparing for the Independence Day launch of Indira Canteens in 125 wards of Bengaluru city, Janata Dal (S) leader T A Saravana has taken on the ruling regime by preparing to launch Appaji Canteens on Aug 2.

Appaji canteens will offer Idly, Vada, Khara Bath, Kesari Bath (any one for breakfast) at Rs 5 and Mudde-Sambar and Rice sambar combo meal (for lunch) will be available at a throwaway price of Rs 10. Coffee and tea will cost just Rs 3.

The state government has undertaken several exercises to launch Indira Canteen in Bangalore by Aug 15 in 125 wards during the first phase. Despite allegations of irregularities, the government continues its work on a war footing without worrying about them. On the other hand, the Legislative Council Member and JDS leader T A Saravana has quietly quietly launched “Appaji Canteen” to take on Indira Canteens.

Badavara Bandhu Devegowda, “Namma Appaji Canteen” will have its first outlet on 50-foot road in Hanumanthanagar area under Basavanagudi Assembly Constituency in Bangalore. JDS Supremo and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and wife Chanamma Devgowda are scheduled to launch the “all green food outlet” at 11 am on Aug 2. Former chief minister minister H D Kumaraswamy, former minister H D Ravanna and canteen founder T A Saravana will be present at launch.
