Bengaluru: A bus driver seeking better job prospects, was swindled off Rs 7 lakhs when he was promised a job with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
The victim, L Govindaraj from Sadashivnagar was driving a bus between Hassan and Bengaluru, when he encountered a man named Hamza who was gloating about his contacts at the BMRCL. Hamza then offered to get Govindaraj a job with the reputed company but, for a commission.
As a first installment, Govindaraj paid the stranger Rs 5.5 lakhs after which he paid another installment of Rs 1.5 lakhs. With Rs 7 lakhs gone and still no sign of a job, Govindaraj confronted Hamza, who denied ever having taken any money from him.
When Govindaraj was unable to contact Hamza to recover his money, he filed a complaint with the Sadashivanagar police station.
