Burglars loot advocate’s residence; security guard nabbed

Bengaluru: In a brazen incident burglars carried away ornaments worth more than Rs 55 lakh including Rs 10.70 lakh cash from a reputed advocate’s house on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at senior advocate Suresh Thakur’s residence near Amruthahalli.

According to police, burglars might have gained entry into the house using duplicate keys.

Burglars have looted Rs 10.70 lakh hard cash stashed in a cupboard in their master bedroom and 1.6 kgs of gold jewelry.

In addition, they have taken away 6 kgs of silver ornaments and idols placed at various parts of the house including Pooja room.

The incident came to light when Suresh’s family returned home in the night after attending a private ceremony.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that security guard of the house who hails from Nepal might have helped the burglars by providing duplicate keys, police sources said.

The suspected security guard has been taken into custody for further investigation, said DCP Dr. Harsha.

It is said that security guard was nabbed by locals few minutes before he tried to board an auto rickshaw heading towards Majestic with packed luggage.
