Bengaluru: The tussle between the Congress-Janata Dal (S) state coalition government and the opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party in the state has reached its peak, after over 13 rebel coalition MLAs resigned. While the rebel MLAs have taken the matter to Supreme Court, questioning the conduct of Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar, BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa has exerted pressure on Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to resign and dissolve the government, claiming that there was no majority in the state coalition of Congress-JDS.

Speaking to media here on Saturday, July 13, he said, “There is no point in CM HDK continuing as the CM anymore as several coalition MLAs have lost faith on the coalition. The numbers of the Congress-JDS coalition MLAs has come down which proves that there is no majority. I urge CM HDK to pass the ‘No Confidence’ motion on Monday, July 15.”

BSY said that apart from 10 rebel MLAs moving the Supreme Court, a fresh case had been filed by five other rebel MLAs with the Apex Court against the conduct of the Speaker Ramesh Kumar on accepting their resignations.

“Amid this, ‘troubleshooter’ of Congress-JDS coalition and State Water Resource Minister D K Shivakumar is trying to console and convince a rebel Congress MLA M T B Nagaraj. He cannot do this as he should not forget that M T B is one among those rebels who have moved the SC against the state coalition. Hence, there is no question of the rebels stepping back from their decisions”, BSY added.

Meanwhile, he has welcomed CM HDK’s move of passing ‘No Confidence’ motion on the floor of the house, which he announced in the assembly on Friday, July 12.
