Bengaluru: In a big relief to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, MTB Nagaraj and AH Vishwanath have agreed to wait till the next state legislative council elections to be inducted into the cabinet as ministers.
It can be recalled that both politicians had resigned from the Congress and JD(S) parties respectively, which led to the fall of the Kumaraswamy-led coalition government in the state. Since rebelling against their respective parties, the two former MLAs have been harboring ministerial ambitions in the newly-formed Yediyurappa government.
However, both candidates lost their seats in the recently-held Karnataka by-elections.
Nagaraj and Vishwanath, who met the CM at his residence ‘Dhavalagiri’ on Monday, February 3 noon, agreed to the proposal made by Yediyurappa.
The CM assured them that in the next state legislative council election, they will be fielded as BJP candidates. Once they become MLCs, they will be inducted into the cabinet.
Speaking to reporters after their meeting with the Chief Minister, MTB Nagaraj stated that CM had been very kind. “He fulfilled all the demands. The only unfulfilled demand is our induction into the cabinet. I got assurance for this also,” he said.
