Bengaluru: The State unit of Bahujan Samajawadi Party (BSP) staged a massive protest rally on Thursday, July 21 demanding the arrest of Dayashankar Sharma for making derogatory remarks about their leader Mayawati.
The organizers and party supporters expressed deep anger against Sharma, BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh, and urged the Central leaders to take stringent action against him. They demanded his immediate arrest.
The protesters also expressed anger against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh by garlanding slippers on their portraits in front of Town hall.
Addressing the agitating gathering, state BSP convenor Muniyappa said that Dalit fraternity is being traumatized after Modi came to power. The atrocities done against Dalits in Gujarat and repercussions, is the latest to add as an example, he said.
Several Dalit and progressive organisations participated in the protest.
Dayashankar Sharma, at a press conference in the Mau district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, had said that BSP chief Mayawati was giving party tickets based on the amount of money paid to her and that even a prostitute was better than her, which led to a huge protest by BSP party supporters.
