Bengaluru: A BSF constable has been arrested for molesting a teenage girl and threatening her family if they took any action against him.
The incident occured on September 10, when the 25-year-old constable barged into the girl’s house, a teenage daughter of his superior officer and allegedly molested her. He also threatened the victim’s family if they initiated any action against him.
The victim’s father, a senior BSF officer’s attempts to take the issue with his seniors failed hence he decided to lodge a complaint with the local police. In the complaint, victim’s father stated that the accused entered into his house and molested his daughter finding her alone.
Bangalore Mirror, quoted the girl’s father, saying, “I spotted the accused near my house and caught him. Initially he apologised to me when I questioned him about his behavior with my daughter. But I told him I would bring it to the notice of senior officers and get some action initiated against him for his act.”
A police officer said, “The victim spoke to the DIG and narrated the entire sequence of events, but there was no action taken so they decided to approach us. Though the BSF usually initiates action against its personnel after conducting an internal probe based on the allegations, the victim’s family claimed that they did not get any assistance, thus they decided to lodge a police complaint against the accused. The victim’s family has also alleged that the accused has been harassing their daughter for the last four months and had threatened to kill her if she spurned him.”
After registering the case, the police have booked the BSF constable under POCSO Act.
