Bengaluru: The state-run BMTC is likely to launch scattered bus services in the city from May 18 onwards. It has asked its crew members to show up for duty from May 18 with a medical certificate.

According to sources, the BMTC likely to re-launch its service in a phased manner as many of the commercial activities are already started in the city.

Sources add that as Lockdown 3.0 is ending on May 17, the BMTC has asked its crew to turn up for duty from May 18. “Bus service is considered as an essential service. Till now, the government has not asked us to re-start the service. But we are getting ready to re-launch services at any time,” the authorities said.

According to sources, the BMTC is planning to provide all the safety equipment to its staff once the services are re-launched. This includes face masks, sanitizers, gloves etc. apart from ferrying a limited number of passengers in the buses.
