Bengaluru: Passengers travelling in Vayu Vajra buses from the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to Electronics City can now heave a sigh of relief. The BMTC on Saturday announced 15% discount for passengers travelling in a group of three or more on the KIAS-8 route.

However, it is applicable only for passengers who purchase tickets at the BMTC counter at KIA.

Among the things set to be proposed in the state budget is a group discount to all Vaju Vajra passengers. There are plans to reduce fares of BMTC by 10% across the board. The proposal is being mooted by transport minister H M Revanna.

BMTC had recently reduced fare of Vajra AC buses up to 37% on a trial basis from New Year. Vayu Vajra fares of schedules operated from Mehkri Circle, Hebbal, Esteem Mall and Kogilu Cross were also reduced. The corporation has also introduced a flat fare of Rs 100 for Vayu Vajra passengers travelling from Hunasamaranahalli to KIA.

Revanna on Saturday said the discount fare is being provided as part of the state government’s initiative to increase passenger volume.
