Ramanagar: A student accompanying his classmates drowned in a pond while they were busy taking selfies. The selfie image which has gone viral turned a realistic evidence to confirm the death of the ill-fated student and nothing else.

Vishwas(17), studying in II PUC at National College and resident of Hanumanthnagar in the city is the deceased,

Around 20 students had left the college premises on September 22 to attend an NCC camp under the guidance of Prof. Girish. After finishing the trekking on September 23, the group of students got into a pond (Kalyani) for a swim near Gundanjaneya temple in Ramgudlu village limits.

NCC cadet Vishwas did not know to swim and hence drowned, said police during preliminary investigation after extracting the body from the pond.

Govindaiah, father of deceased student Vishwas has lodged a complaint with the police. Parents and relatives kept the body in front of the college and demanded serious action against the college administration for the lapse which resulted in the death of an innocent student.
