Bengaluru: The BJP’s list of campaigners for the upcoming bypolls in three Lok Sabha constituencies and two Assembly segments are out. What is surprising is that the list does not feature the names of firebrand politician and Union minister Anantha Kumar Hegade and senior leader SM Krishna.
As per sources, the list containing names of 38 campaigners has been sent to Election Commission. The name of Hegade being left out from the list has come as a shock.
Hegade has made some very controversial statements in the past, which had left the central government in a state of a fix. Many opine that this may have gone against the young leader from the coastal belt of Karnataka.
Hegade had made a statement with regard to changing the Constitution of India. This had left the BJP red-faced. He had also said that Siddaramaiah would bootlick to stay in power, Terrorism and Islam go hand in hand etc and all of his statements had cost the government dear. He had fanned the controversies by justifying his statements most of the times.
The Congress and the JD(S) are facing the bypolls together, which means the BJP is going to suffer as far as the minority and backward class votes are concerned. Keeping this in mind, Hegade may have been left out from the list.
The name of senior leader and former chief minister SM Krishna too has been left out. However, it is said that Krishna’s health does not permit him to take up hectic schedules and hence he has been left out of the list.
