Bengaluru: BJP MLA Arvind Bellad from Hubli-Dharwad West indirectly voiced his support for the creation of Bengaluru South District during a statement at Vidhana Soudha on Thursday. He suggested that establishing a Karnataka Capital Region (KCR) around Bengaluru, which includes the city and its neighboring towns and villages, would be the most appropriate course of action. Bellad proposed that this initiative should encompass areas like Ramnagar, Kolar, Tumkur, and parts of Bangalore to facilitate development efforts. He emphasized that this viewpoint is his personal perspective and stressed the importance of approaching this matter with a focus on development rather than politics.
Drawing a comparison with the National Capital Region (NCR) around Delhi, Bellad mentioned that the proposed Karnataka Capital Region (KCR) should prioritize the growth of Bangalore and the development of its surrounding regions. He underscored the importance of emphasizing development when making such decisions.
Regarding the ongoing Tiger Claw case, Bellad called for a fair approach that does not target Hindu beliefs exclusively. He suggested that cases should also be filed against dargahs and mosques possessing peacock feathers to demonstrate a commitment to forest protection. Bellad expressed his intention to draft a letter to the government, requesting this action. He highlighted that preserving the skins of deceased animals has been a tradition followed by Hindu sadhus for generations and cited actor Salman Khan as an example of someone who refrains from hunting blackbuck and using their skin. He emphasized the need for consistent policies when laws are followed.
Furthermore, Bellad addressed the state’s drought issue, emphasizing the challenges faced by farmers and the public due to electricity problems. He noted that the government’s attention to the Tiger Claw case has diverted focus from pressing issues. Bellad suggested that most people wear tiger claws or plastic nails rather than genuine ones, and he mentioned the lack of actual tiger claw hunters. He stated that recent developments in the Tiger Claw case are primarily a result of media speculation.
Regarding speculation about the potential appointment of Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje as the state president, Bellad clarified that the party’s leadership will make decisions on the roles of state president and opposition at the appropriate time. He emphasized that the information circulating in the media is unofficial and purely speculative.
