Bengaluru: A BJP corporator of BBMP attempted suicide after she was released on bail and is in a critical condition at a private hospital. She was arrested for stealing a dress from a Mall while shopping here on April 2014.

She was the corporator of Girinagar ward in Basavanagudi constituency and had consumed poison. Mayor N Shanthakumari, MLA from Basavanagudi and other party members visited the hospital.

The BJP Corporator from Girinagar ward in South Bangalore, HS Lalitha was arrested on the charges of shoplifting at Sukh Sagar Mall at Gandhinagar on Tuesday April 22.

Police caught her red-handed stealing clothes worth Rs. 5,000 from a readymade garment showroom in Gandhinagar. The Upparpet police had arrested her and produced her before the jurisdictional magistrate, the  same night.

She was remanded to judicial custody and later shifted to the Bangalore Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. Recently she was released on bail.
