Bengaluru: Efforts will be made to perform bhoomi pooja for the Vishnuvardhan memorial near Mysuru on September 18, the birth anniversary of the late actor, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday.

Addressing mediapersons, Siddaramaiah said that as suggested by Vishnuvardhan’s wife Bharathi, a six-acre plot on H D Kote Road has been chosen for the memorial. The earlier proposal of the government to construct the memorial at Abhiman Studio in Bengaluru was dropped after a land dispute.

Bharathi Vishnuvardhan on Tuesday told the CM that September 18 would be an apt day to hold the bhoomi pooja for the memorial as it was the birth anniversary of Vishnuvardhan.

Siddaramaiah then called up and directed Public Works and district-in-charge minister H C Mahadevappa to talk to revenue department officials and the district deputy commissioner for speedy transfer of land for the memorial.
