Bengaluru: Bharathi Veerath, the first lady cab driver of Bengaluru was found dead at her home on Monday evening. It is suspected that she had ended life, despite the fact that there were no suicide notes recovered from her home.
Two-years-ago, Bharathi hit headlines when she joined Uber as a cab driver. She was called the first lady cab driver of Bengaluru. However, on Monday, she hung her shoes. Her Ford Fiesta taxi, that she bought after saving up was found abandoned near her rented house.
It is said that Bharathi, who was working as tailor joined an NGO where she learnt driving. Later, she joined Uber. Bharathi, a native of Andhra Pradesh, reportedly lived alone in Bengaluru over the last ten years. However, the landlord of her house, who spotted the dead body first, informed the police about the incident and also revealed that Bharathi had told him that she was planning to go back to Andhra Pradesh soon.
“It appears to be a case of suicide, as the victim’s (V. Bharathi) body was found hanging by a cloth-like rope from the ceiling of a room by her landlord on Monday night. The landlord went to the third floor of his house where Bharathi was staying in the rented portion to check her whereabouts as he did not see her again since Sunday night and found her body hanging through the room’s window and alerted us,” police officer Prakash said.
