Bengaluru: BIAL police arrested a 31-year-old woman for allegedly creating a bomb scare and assaulting a CISF officer at the boarding gate of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).
The arrested accused has been identified as Manasi Satheebainu, a resident of Kerala’s Kozhikode District. The alleged incident happened between 8.15 and 8.40 in the morning.
Police filed a complaint based on a complaint made by CISF officer Sandeep Singh.
Singh claimed in his complaint that during the morning shift, he was deployed at boarding gate number 6. (6.00 am to 1.00 pm). Manasi arrived at the gate where she was supposed to board Indigo Flight 6E445 to Kolkata.
She approached Singh at 8.20 am and told him she had an emergency need to get to Kolkata. Manasi allegedly threatened to blow up a bomb at the airport, if she failed to reach Kolkata as soon as possible.
Singh made an effort to calm her down. The complaint stated that Manasi, however, refused to listen to him and grabbed him by the collar of his uniform. He claims she gave him a face punch and a kick. Singh stated that she also attempted to scare other travellers by yelling that an airport bomb had been put in and that everyone needed to leave right now to save their lives.
Other officials gathered at the spot and detained Manasi. She was handed over to BIAL police by CISF officers for further action. A case has been registered by the police under IPC sections 505, 323 and 353.
