Bengaluru: District in-charge minister Ramalinga Reddy said the State government is firm on banning hoardings across the City and will soon approve the resolution passed by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council in this regard.

While speaking to sources the minister said, “The courts and the Lokayukta too are worried about the mushrooming of hoardings which have spoilt the City’s beauty. The BBMP has passed a resolution heeding to the concerns expressed by the courts. The government also wants to rid the City of hoardings,” he said.

The minister said that advertisements would be allowed at public toilets, skywalks, bus shelters and other public places, which the private players would develop in return for putting up advertisements.

The BBMP passed a resolution in the last week of January to ban hoardings across Bengaluru.
