Bengaluru: The investigation into the Santro Ravi case has been transferred to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday January 16. The government ordered CID to investigate the case against “Santro” Ravi, said Home Minister Araga Jnanendra.

Police arrested Santro Ravi on January 13 from Gujarat. He was arrested following a Dalit woman’s allegation that he had harassed her for dowry, raped her and physically assaulted her. A First Information Report (FIR) was filed by the Mysuru Police on January 2 after this. Ravi was booked under sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Six teams were formed by the police to locate Ravi, who had fled, and teams were sent to neighbouring states including Telangana and Kerala.
