Bengaluru: Role of media in social reforms important

Bengaluru: The role of print and electronic media in social reforms is very important, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and added that laptops, cameras and other necessary equipment have been provided by the Government to facilitate the profession of journalists.

He was speaking after distributing media kits to accredited journalists belonging to Backward Classes at a programme organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations at Kanteerava Studio premises here on Monday March 27. “Journalists should also increase their data collection as well as provide publicly useful information, he said and added that this should be used to effectively work to eradicate distortions in society.

“Cameras, laptops and other quality equipment are being provided by the Government to support the profession of journalists belonging to backward classes. A total of 605 people from all Districts of the State are being provided with the required equipment.
No Government in the past has given such a media kit, he said and added that work should be done more effectively using these tools,” he said.

The Chief Minister symbolically distributed media kits to journalists belonging to Backward Classes as announced in the Budget.
