Bengaluru: The previous system of delivering justice had stressed more on human values, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking after releasing four books under the aegis of Departments of Law & Parliamentary Reforms and Kannada & Culture here on Thursday December 8, he said that this issue was discovered in history. Man is a social animal and he developed civilisation. Where there is civilisation there is a need for delivery of justice and it has a rich history. This has been there since time immemorial. In Democracy, they have a compilation of legislations and justice delivery mechanisms. Though it was not compiled, they had their own system. This book throws light on delivery of justice during the days of the maharajas and the situation in State during the reigns of queens. It will be a good guide for those interested in law, he said.

The CM said a person with PhD has mentioned in the book on the justice delivery system during the days of Kalyani Chalukya rulers and regarding Democracy after studying the stone scriptures of the 11th century. Ruling is different and doing administration is different and this has been categorised way back in 11th century. This book will be distributed among libraries so that youths read more about justice, courts and the justice delivery system, he noted.
