Bengaluru: Man tried to sell furniture in FB, duped Rs 98,000

Bengaluru: An employee of a private company, who tried to sell furniture on Facebook, was caught red-handed by cyber thieves and was duped of Rs 98,000.

The victim has been identified as Prabhakar Jaiswal (40), a resident of Doddatogur.

Prabhakar, an employee of a private company, had posted on his Facebook account that he would sell the furniture in the house. An unidentified person called Prabhakar and said, that he will buy the furniture that Prabhakar had posted on Facebook. He told prabhakar that If he scan the QR code that accused sent, the advance money will come to your bank account immediately.
Believing the unknown person, Prabhakar scanned the QR code sent by him. Soon after, Rs 98,000 was withdrawn from Prabhakar’s bank account. On checking the matter, it was found that it was the handiwork of cyber thieves.
