Bengaluru: The Supreme Court on Monday October 17 refused to hear Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa’s plea challenging the High Court order in the illegal land notification case U. U. Lalit, Chief Justice has withdrawn from the case.
When the petition came up for hearing on Friday October 14, the CJI withdrew and said the petition would be heard in another bench after Diwali.
On January 27, 2021, the Supreme Court had granted protection from arrest to BSY and Minister Murugesh Nirani in connection with the same case. Private investor Alam Pasha had filed a complaint against them in this case in 2011.
The State High Court had mandated the beginning of criminal proceedings against BSY and Nirani in the unsuccessful allocation of 26 acres of land on January 5, 2021. They both went to the Supreme Court to contest this.
