Bengaluru gears up for bandh in Tamil Nadu on Friday

Bengaluru: Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara said on Thursday the police are monitoring the online and the social media content generated during the recent agitations over the sharing of Cauvery water.
G Parameshwar take U-turn on clean-chit to Amnesty International-1Elaborating on the security measures taken to avoid any untoward incidents in view of the bandh in Tamil Nadu on Friday, Dr G Parameshwara said the police have collected the content and text generated during the agitations in the city and action would be taken if the content and text is found to be provocative. “The police also collected video footage during the riots. The police will arrest those involved in the riots. The police will also arrest Santosh, who posted derogatory remarks on social media against Kannada film actors. As of now, we do not know Santosh’s whereabouts. Police are investigating the case,’’  Dr Parameshwara said.

The home minister said that police have identified 33 police stations among the 106 police stations in Bengaluru as sensitive and have taken measures to prevent any untoward incidents on the eve of bandh in Tamil Nadu on Friday. “Among the 33 police stations, 26 police stations are in west of Bengaluru while seven police stations are in Bengaluru East,’’ the minister said.

He said the home department has deployed 11 companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), three battalions of Border Security Force (BSF), six battalions of Indian Air Force (IAF) and 6,000 policemen to maintain law and order in the city on Friday. “To ensure peace in Bengaluru rural, one battalion of RAF, one battalion of BSF, five platoons of KSRP and eight platoons of DAR personnel are deployed,’’ he said.

The minister said the home department had deployed three companies of central forces and eight platoons of KSRP to ensure security at the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) reservoir. “We have deployed six platoons of KSRP to maintain law and order in Mysuru,’’ he said.
