Bengaluru: An elderly woman was robbed of Rs. 1.80 Lakh by cyber thieves who obtained an OTP number on the pretext of updating her KYC.

The victim has been identified as 77-year-old woman from Langford Town, Meera.

On January 27, unidentified persons, posing as bank employees, called Meera’s mobile phone and gave her a number asking her to update the KYC of her bank account and call the customer care.

Accordingly, Meera called the number given by an unknown person and when she enquired, she asked her to tell her the OTP number that had come to her mobile phone. Meera gave the OTP number. Soon after, they had withdrawn Rs. 1.80 Lakh from her bank account.
