An accident that caused a massive traffic jam near the border of Goa was among the many elements that led the police to the Bengaluru woman who killed her four-year-old son at a service apartment in Candolim.

“When she was fleeing Goa, she was stuck at Chorla Ghat due to an accident for four hours. This was a blessing in disguise. Had she reached Bengaluru,” it would have been difficult to get the body of the child, police sources said.

Chorla Ghat is located at the intersection of the borders of Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra. It lies to the north-east of Panaji, Goa and nearly 55 kilometres from Belgaum in Karnataka.

Sources claim that Suchana Seth killed her son on Monday and placed the body in a bag due to a custody dispute with her divorced husband. On Tuesday, Ms. Seth was transported to Goa after being taken into custody on the same day in Chitradurga, Karnataka.

The couple’s divorce papers state that Ms. Seth filed a domestic abuse case against her estranged husband Venkat Raman in August 2022. Venkat Raman has refuted the accusation made by the woman that he physically abused her and her son in court. A restraining order was issued by the court prohibiting Mr. Raman from visiting his wife’s house or corresponding with her or the child.

However, he was given visitation rights, which is said to have upset Ms. Seth.

Sources claim that on Saturday, Ms. Suchana messaged Mr. Raman via WhatsApp. “The child is yours to meet,” the message stated. The woman killed the child a few days prior to this Saturday when she was in Goa.

Nevertheless, Venkat Raman learned that the family wasn’t in Bengaluru. Venkat Raman will be called in a few days for questioning, according to sources, who also stated that he later left for Indonesia.

However, during questioning, Suchana Seth denied any role in the crime and asserted that the child was already dead when she woke up, according to police sources.

Meanwhile, two empty bottles of cough syrup were discovered by the Goa police in the room where the CEO of Mindful Al is said to have killed the boy. According to an official, she may have given him a large dose of the medication and that the murder was premeditated.

According to officials, the child was smothered to death with a cloth or a pillow, as revealed by the post-mortem.

Ms Seth checked into the service apartment on January 6 and stayed there till January 8 before leaving for Bengaluru in a taxi. Following her arrest, a court in Mapusa town of Goa on Tuesday remanded her in police custody for six days.

Venkat Raman reached Hiriyur in Chitradurga district on Tuesday night and took possession of his son’s body after the post-mortem.
