The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted no respite from the ongoing heatwave-like conditions in Bengaluru, with temperatures expected to remain high on Monday. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the city are predicted to hover around 38 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively, according to the IMD.
Historical High Temperatures
On Sunday, Bengaluru experienced its second-highest temperatures in history, with the mercury soaring to 38.5 degrees Celsius. The city had previously recorded similar high temperatures in April 2016, reaching 39.2 degrees Celsius.

The IMD’s weather forecast for Sunday indicated little change in the city’s weather conditions, with the maximum temperature likely to stay around 38 degrees Celsius. The sky is expected to remain mainly clear.
Statewide Weather Conditions
Across Karnataka, dry weather prevails, accompanied by significantly above-normal temperatures in various parts of the state. Heatwave-like conditions are anticipated in several cities, including Bidar, Gulbarga, Bijapur, Yadgir, Raichur, Bagalkot, and others.
Continued Hot and Humid Weather
Parts of Karnataka, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttar Kannada districts, will experience hot and humid weather until April 2, 2024. Maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next 4-5 days in these regions.
Second-hottest Day in 50 Years
April 28 marked the second-hottest day in Bengaluru’s recorded history, with temperatures reaching 38.5 degrees Celsius. This surpassed previous records and stands as the second-highest temperature recorded in the last five decades. With no relief in sight, Bengaluru residents are bracing for temperatures to potentially reach 40 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
