Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to conduct a technology-based survey of street vendors in the wake of lapses in the survey conducted earlier.
A survey of street vendors in City was conducted four years ago on the instructions of the Central Government. At that time, BBMP Officials had calculated the number of street vendors in the City and said that there were only 33,000 street vendors.
However, since then, 85 street vendors have registered under the Pradhan Mantri Svanidhi Yojana. Realising that the survey was not adequate, the BBMP has now decided to conduct a new technology-based survey.
