Bengaluru: The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will soon become country’s first airport to be completely Aadhaar-enabled by December 2018.
The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has plans to introduce completely Aadhaar-enabled entry into the airport and biometric boarding system by this year end to confirm personal identity for airport passenger processing and access control among other things.
A passenger will be verified in five seconds at every checkpoint right up to the boarding gate. Also they can complete the screening process in 10 minutes compared to the average 25 minutes with the new process.
With the new facility, security checks of the airlines will be seamless and enhanced and also there will be an improvement in OTP and punctuality.
A spokesperson said that the new system would help enhance security, speed up clearance and reduce delays at the airport. “In addition to eliminating the need for passengers to present their ID and boarding passes at multiple stages of the airport journey, they can expect passage through various touch-points to be smooth and stress free,” he added.
