Bengaluru: People from different age groups have joined hands to make one lakh seed balls in Bengaluru on Sunday, June 09.

SayTrees , a professionally run group of ordinary people organised the event. The seed balls will be taken to the forests of Kodagu and will be planted with the help of the forest department.

SayTrees has been making seed balls since 2007 and sowing them in different parts of the state. The organisation also sensitises people about environment conservation and encourages tree plantation campaigns.

The organisation chose Kodagu district this year as thousands of trees were damaged in last year’s floods. They also desire to involve the local people of Kodagu in sowing the seed balls.

The trees required for the forest areas were different compared to the city areas. The seed balls were prepared keeping this in mind based on research result.

Reports say that the organisation is yet to approach the Forest department.
