Bengalureans get much-awaited skywalks

Bengaluru: In a little respite for the pedestrians of the city three skywalks at major junctions were inaugurated on Monday morning, May 2.

The high-tech skywalks with elevators at Koramangala (near Forum mall), Mysore road (near Gopalan mall) and Yeshwanthpura (near Goverdhan theater) were kept open for the public.

Five other skywalks were also kept open for public at various points today.

The inaugurated skywalks are part of a bigger projects which aims at constructing 28 such skywalks across the city.

Minister for Bengaluru city in charge KJ George inaugurated the skywalks.

The project started almost two years ago and could complete only eight so far.

Ironically, the most needed and much demanded skywalk near Kempapura junction on Airport road, which witnessed several accidents resulting in many pedestrians’ deaths, is yet to completed.

The project is jointly undertaken by BBMP, BDA and state government.

Union Minister for Chemicals and fertilizers, Ananth Kumar, minister Ramlinga Reddy, Mayor Manjunath Reddy and others were present on the occasion.
