Bengaluru: The winter session of the state legislature is likely to be held at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha (SVS) here for two weeks.
Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad, on Thursday said that sessions may tentatively be held either in the third or last week of November, while the district administration has asked the government to hold the sessions before December 15, keeping in mind the marriage seasons which may trigger accommodation problems.
Speaking about the Cauvery issue and the stand of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Koliwad said that the Prime Minister was not being biased and was treating all states equally. “Since the matter is sub-judice, he did not interfere,” said the Speaker adding that a day would be set aside to discuss Mahadayi issue and another day for problems of the North Karnataka region, during the sessions.
Stating that the SVS had turned into White elephant for the government, with Rs 4 crore being spent annually for its maintenance, while the legislature session was held here only for two weeks in a year, he said that measures would be taken to exploit its tourism potential and allow film shoots there.
“But the sanctity of the building would be protected,” Koliwad said.
