Be Careful in Dropping Waste in Municipal Limits

Bangalore:The amendment of Municipal Act of 1976 has come into effect on Friday August 30, which empowers to civic body to levy fines on those who violate the law on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the metro.
The Bill has been passed in the legislative assembly with the objective of effectively managing the solid waste and hiked the fine up to a maximum of Rs 5,000 for reckless in the disposing the garbage. 

The Bill has been approved by the Governor on August 19 and published in state gazette on August 20. It is applicable to Bangalore, Gulbarga, Hubli-Dharwad, Mangalore, Belgaum, Bellary, Mysore and Davanagere municipal bodies. 

The reckless dumping of waste, spitting, urinating and defecating on public places, throwing waste on road, bus, railway station, street, play ground, parks etc will be fined Rs 100 for first offence, Rs 200 for the second offence.
