Bengaluru: The BBMP has decided to procure 233 android-operated hand-held gadgets to impose fines on those who litter in public places.

According to sources, every machine will cost the BBMP about Rs 400.

The BBMP will be giving these machines to 233 marshals appointed to keep an eye on litter bugs. The offenders will be fined under different slabs for different offences.

“The marshals will be retired army personnel. They will be given 5% of the amount collected as fine,” informed an officer who is part of the initiative.
