Bengaluru: Given the rising Covid-19 cases in Bengaluru, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will be introducing mobile vans to conduct random RT-PCR tests.
Using mobile vans, BBMP officials will conduct random testing in public spaces. BBMP will also announce guidelines in collaboration with apartment building management, marriage venues, resident welfare associations, and educational institutions for random testing.
The revised guidelines were issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare(MoHFW) on March 11. As per the new guidelines, approximately 40,000 RT-PCR tests should be conducted in Bengaluru urban district.
In addition to the target set by the Ministry, at least 50,000 tests should be conducted daily. BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad told The Hindu that random testing will help us identify more cases.
