BBMP to hold ‘Khata Mela’ across eight zones in B’luru

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to hold a ‘Khata Mela’ in each of Bengaluru’s eight zones in order to increase revenue.

The plan was announced by BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta at a review meeting with revenue officials on Monday June 28, according to sources.

Since April 2021, the BBMP has collected Rs 1,563.78 crore in property tax. Gaurav Gupta, the BBMP’s Chief Commissioner, expressed his delight at the collection.

According to Gupta, the revenue officers should focus more on property tax collection, and newly constructed buildings should be included in the property tax system.

Basavaraj, the Special Commissioner of Revenue, has directed employees to send demand notices to property tax defaulters and to collect property taxes as soon as possible.
