Bengaluru: A revenue inspector of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) committed suicide on Monday evening at his residence in Srinagar in Bengaluru South.

The police have identified the deceased as H C Srinivas (40), a revenue inspector working with the BBMP.

The family members of Srinivas have alleged that that frequent transfers and harassment by a corporator had pushed him to take the extreme step. In a span of one month he had been transferred twice against the established norms, the family members said.

On November 14, Srinivas was transferred to K G Nagar despite not completing three years in the posting. Exactly a month later, he was transferred back to R R Nagar.

The Hanumanth Nagar police have taken up a case of unnatural death and are investigating the case.

Meanwhile, Mayor G Padmavathi said the civic body will inquire into the issue. “We will get the documents, examine and take a report about the transfers that have happened,” she said.
