Bengaluru: In an effort aimed at helping the children from poor families who do not have a calm environment to study in their houses, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has proposed evening schools for children studying between classes VIII and X.

These schools will function between 6.00 pm and 8.00 pm. Teachers, a library, computers, and other facilities will be provided in these schools.

Over Rs. 2 lakh will be spent on these schools. Only students who register online will be allowed to study in these schools.

The task of teachers is to help the children to learn difficult subjects like English, Mathematics, Science etc.

The first such school is coming up in Dasarahalli ward on a pilot basis. Based on its success, this concept will be expanded to all the wards in the BBMP.

According to the authorities, this is the brainchild of BBMP Special Commissioner (Education) V. Ramprasad Manohar. The students who do not have proper facilities at home will be provided admission to these schools.
