Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Narayana Hrudayalaya have planned to open a hospital for the benefit of cardiac patients in and around Shivajinagar in Bengaluru.
Speaking to mediapersons, Minister for Infrastructure and Haj R Roshan Baig said that the hospital would be operated under public private partnership (PPP) model. “The proposed hospital will be of a great help for the cardiac patients in and around Shivajinagar. As of now, they have to go all the way to Jayadeva or Narayana Hrudayalaya on Banneraghatta Road. Dr Devi Shetty and I have discussed with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about the opening of a cardiac hospital at Shivajinagar,” Roshan Baig said.

The minister said the BBMP had already spent Rs 12 crore for the construction of the building and Dr Devi Shetty has agreed to provide medical equipment worth Rs 20 crore to the hospital. “It will be a 100-bed hospital,” he said.

Dr Devi Shetty said the proposed hospital would be of a great help for cardiac patients in and around Shivajinagar since it facilitates them to reach the hospital within one hour of the heart attack. “The first one hour is called as a Golden hour for those who suffer heart attack. Now, it has become difficult for the cardiac patients to go to hospitals situated at faraway places due to the congestion on the city roads,” Dr Devi Shetty said.
