BBMP forms 24 engineering teams to clear roads during rains

Bengaluru: The BBMP has formed 24 engineering teams for localised response to rain-related problems, especially road blockages due to tree falls and water clogging. These teams will respond quickly to the complaints and clear the roads at the earliest.

According to BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad, all the 24 teams will be led by BBMP engineers. The endeavour will be led by the chief engineer, BBMP (roads), the assistant executive engineers will lead each team in their respective areas and every team will have 15 staffers.

“These teams have been given the responsibility of clearing the roads blocked by tree falls, clearing drainages to ensure the free flow of the rainwater etc.,” he said.

He also informed that presently, nine sweeper machines have been procured and another 17 will be procured in the next few days.

“All the preparations are completed and we are ready for the monsoon season. This time, we will provide localised response to the rain-related complaints to ensure that the affected will get aid immediately,” he concluded.
