Bengaluru: The BBMP continued to collect penalty from those who were found roaming out in public places without wearing masks.
On Sunday alone, the BBMP marshals collected Rs.98,350 in the form of fine from the ones not wearing masks.
With the idea of making the city free from spitting and Covid-19 scare, the BBMP had made mask wearing compulsory in the public places.
A penalty of Rs.500 is collected from first time offenders while Rs.1,000 will be collected from repeated offenders.
Those who are found spitting in the public places are fined Rs.100 for the offense. It is Rs.150 for the repeated offenders.
According to the authorities, on day-1 (May 1), the BBMP marshals had collected Rs. 2,600 from the violators.
Next day, the collection shot up to Rs. 54,700 and on Monday this fine amount is expected to cross Rs. 1 lakh mark
