Bengaluru: According to the directions of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the banks have now started moving closer to the customers and trying to bring more people into the financial sector.
For those who are planning to apply for various schemes offered by the banks and other recognised financial institutes under a single roof, here is some good news. Bank of India (BoI), Bengaluru zone is organising “Customer Outreach” camps at the Jnana Jyothi Auditorium inside the Central College’s Palace Road campus, on October 3 and 4. It is an initiative aimed at connecting with the masses for a deeper spread and penetration of banking products and services. The public can get details of various banking products and schemes offered by the bank.
K N Manjunath, Divisional Manager, Canara Bank, Pramod Kumar Bathal, Zonal Manager, Bank of India and Rajendra Prasad C K, Chief Manager, State Level Bankers Committee, informed that, as a part of the mandatory campaign by all the Public Sector Banks, such camps will be held in 400 identified districts throughout the country in two phases. This initiative is aimed at helping the bank customers apply for various schemes easily.
All the three officers addressed a press meet in the city to explain the highlights of the event.
All Public Sector Banks, Private Sector Banks, NBFCs, HFCs, MFIs, SIDBI and NABARD operating in the district will participate in the outreach programme. All the banks will assemble under one roof to offer a wide spectrum of financial and non-financial services including the opening of savings bank accounts, financial assistance, coverage of customers under various Financial Inclusion Schemes and encouraging customers to move to digital banking products.
The outreach initiative will highlight and enable customers for Financial Inclusion Schemes like the opening of PMJDY/BSBD accounts, Social Security Schemes like PMSBY, PMJJY and APY. Digitalization of banking services such as internet and mobile banking, digital payments particularly BHIM app, will be highlighted in the camp for a faster pace of digitized banking. The visitors can also avail of the facilities for Aadhaar enrolment and updation of Aadhaar details with the assistance of the UIDAI.
