Bangalore police’s initiate drive against drunken driving

Bangalore :The Bangalore Traffic police stopped 15000 vehicles to check for DUI – driving under the influence. The operation spanned over five hours, at 99 locations across the city, with 600 traffic policemen taking part in the operation. 

1,006 drivers and riders of vehicles including two buses, five lorries, 30 autos, 193 cars, 22 maxi-cabs, five tempos and 739 two-wheelers for booked for drunken driving in both East and West divisions on Saturday.

According to the  Police, this constitutes a dip that is the result of the recent rule on license cancellation.  Reports indicate that the city is calm even on weekends, barring a few commercial centers like Indiaranagar and  Koramangala. 

A further 389 vehicles were also booked for using high beam and dazzling headlights in the city.
