Bengaluru: BJP leader and Arabhavi MLA Balachandra Jarakiholi has been elected as the new chairman of the prestigious Karnataka Milk Federation.

Jarakiholi contested the elections unopposed as JD(S) leader H D Revanna did not file his nomination papers.

His win was all but confirmed, after all seven of the Congress-allied directors decided to back the BJP candidate.

The BJP nominated Jarakiholi for the post in order to quell rebellious sentiments that had risen within the party’s state unit after the recent cabinet formation.
