Bengaluru: The appointment of B. Y. Vijayendra as the state president of the BJP has caused discontent among many. Today, B. Y. Vijayendra is meeting with the former Chief Minister S. M. Krishna, Basavaraj Bommai, and former Prime Minister Deve Gowda, seeking their blessings.

After Nalini Kumar Kateel resigned following the defeat in the Vidhana Sabha elections, the position of BJP state president was left vacant. Central Minister Shobha Karandlaje, C. T. Ravi, and other names were under consideration for this role.

However, despite being away from active politics, prominent Lingayat leader B. S. Yediyurappa still wields influence in state politics. Finally, his son B. Y. Vijayendra has been appointed as the new president of the state BJP. This move is significant as it could help secure the Lingayat vote bank in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
