Bengaluru: The Auto drivers under the umbrella of Bengaluru Auto Drivers’ Union and Welfare Associations Federation took out a massive rally on January 3 demanding action against auto finance firms.
During the rally en route Chief Minister’s residence, the protestors shouted slogans against the injustice meted to them by auto finance firms and the inaction by the authorities concerned to rein in those. Hundreds of auto rickshaws joined the rally disrupting traffic in the central business district during the rally.
Auto finance firms offer loans to purchase vehicles at interest rates higher than those stipulated by the government. They even violate court guidelines and take back vehicles without informing the owners in case of delayed payments and fail to return the initial deposit remitted at the time of purchase, they alleged.
They demanded legal action against all such firms to provide succor to the affected auto drivers.
