Bengaluru: A Legislative Assembly committee recommended a year’s imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 on writer, journalist and editor of Kannada language tabloid ‘Hi Bangalore’ Ravi Belagere in connection with publishing defamatory article against Speaker K B Koliwad.

The article against Koliwad was published in the September 2014 issue of ‘Hi Bangalore’.

Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa had referred the issue to the Privilege Committee after Koliwad lodged a complaint against Belagere. The committee submitted its report on Monday in the Assembly.
